Atlas is at the forefront of technological development in Northern Ireland, aimed at opening up the vast possibilities of fibre network access to business customers within and outside the province. We operate the Atlas fibre network, through our subsidiary Bytel, under the principal of Open Access, which prevents monopolisation within the telecoms market by providing a level playing field for communications providers to compete on.
This benefits customers directly by ensuring that no one provider dominates, and prices remain favourable for customers.
There has been significant investment, the Northern Ireland Saturn Ring (NISR), with over 400km of fibre linking Northern Ireland's capital city Belfast, with towns and rural areas around the province, including points of presence in Portadown, Derry, Omagh and Armagh. Atlas 'Open Access' fibre ring is at the heart of the company's growth within the NI telecoms market, with the goal of bringing high capacity network connectivity throughout the province.
This link extends into the Republic of Ireland, and across to New York and Amsterdam, offering our customers the highest quality for local, national and international access, at highly competitive prices.
Connections to our network can be arranged either directly via Private Circuit between the customer's LAN and a Bytel POP, via Broadband ADSL2+ or SDSL, or by fibre to the cabinet. Companies that have already taken advantage of the opportunities available through our network include large scale business parks, financial information service suppliers and national telecoms providers.
