Sperrin Intrgrated College

Atlas Communications recently worked alongside Sperrin Integrated College, to install a new Panasonic NS700 phone system, with over 40 handsets. The contract, part of an integrated system, lines & calls service, was won through a competitive tender process in response to the school looking to replace their existing Toshiba system.

The school had two main drivers in its search including having call recording in place to help with safeguarding of staff. They were also looking for a system that would allow more efficient call handling for parents and staff.

Atlas’ proposal included replacing their existing ISDN lines with SIP lines and using SIP side call recording as a cost effective way to monitor calls. This migration to SIP also reduced the cost of the school’s line rental.

The hybrid feature of the Panasonic system meant it was compatible with these new lines, and also allowed the school to benefit from a new, bespoke auto attendant (press 1, press 2) service for managing inbound calls.

We worked closely with the school throughout, facilitating dates outside of term time and offering a lease purchase option through Grenke which helped spread out investment without affecting their capital spend.

“The new system supplied by Atlas has not only met our call recording and call management requirements, but the proposal to upgrade our phone lines to SIP, has provided reassurance that the system is future proofed, and is flexible to meet our needs and any future changes within telecoms.” Martin McAfee, Sperrin Integrated College

The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society

RUAS is a charitable organisation, formed with the purpose of promoting agriculture in Northern Ireland through hosting shows and providing agricultural guidance & instruction. The most notable event in their yearly calendar is the Balmoral Show, Ireland’s largest Agri-food festival, which attracts over 100,000 visitors each year at its new home in Balmoral Park. Located within Balmoral Park is also the Eikon Exhibition Centre, a 10,000sqm exhibition space that is host to a diverse range of events each year.

Atlas provide event communications management on behalf of RUAS as well as providing their own internal telephony & network services. With the Balmoral Show alone having close to 750 trade stands across 4 days, these large scale events have huge bandwidth requirements and often individual exhibitors require bespoke networking to run product demos, stream videos & for taking secure card payments.

The team at Atlas are highly experienced in delivering Internet services at events like these, from one off single events at the Eikon Centre to the single biggest agricultural event in Ireland. With a large locally based engineering team able to directly set up & manage the services during the shows, ensuring everything is running as should be.

“The nature of events like the Balmoral Show mean that a lot of exhibition space and show events are held outside. This can make it problematic to bring connectivity to stands and to all-important judging arenas. However, Atlas have been able to provide solutions to this and provide high quality Internet services for both us and exhibitors at our events.” Jenny McNeill, Events & Business Development Executive at RUAS

Catalyst Inc

Atlas are proud to count Catalyst as one of our key clients, working with them for over 10 years, providing managed network & telecoms services for Catalyst and their tenant companies.

Catalyst Inc is one of Northern Ireland’s success stories, with over 3,000 engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs and executives working in their campuses in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry and Ballymena, across eight large office buildings. Catalyst nurtures indigenous technology firms and encourages inward investment from some of the largest tech companies in the world.

At the core of their campuses are ‘business ready’ turnkey hubs, with critical data and voice infrastructure supported by Atlas, all built into a package. This provides a high quality built environment & infrastructure that enables tenant companies to focus on knowledge-based entrepreneurialism.

As Catalyst has grown Atlas have worked with them to build a single virtual campus infrastructure combining data and voice services. This allows tenant companies to easily move between campuses & access services regardless of location. Catalyst tenants range from one-entrepreneur companies through to global multi-nationals and Atlas have been able to provide services to meet these vastly differing needs.

Mervyn Watley, Director of Corporate Real Estate and Facilities at Catalyst, explained “The managed infrastructure provided by Atlas helps us to support our community of innovators and allows them to focus on growing their business without the worry of sourcing & managing these critical voice & data services. Over the years we have built up a great relationship with the team at Atlas and they have always been able to meet all our requirements as we continue to grow and develop as a company.”

Atlas look forward to continuing to work alongside Catalyst in distinguishing Northern Ireland as a world-class centre of knowledge and technological development.

Stanfield NI

Atlas have been providing Stanfield NI with business telephony services and support for a number of years. As a long established, local builders merchant, relationships with their customers & suppliers are very much focused on direct, personal contact and as such the telephone is an essential part of their day-to-day business.

When Stanfield’s legacy phone system recently reached end of life, Atlas provided a complete solution that included lines & minutes. At its core was a new SIP ready Panasonic telephony platform. This new phone system can be easily upgraded to adapt to future telephony changes, which helps Stanfield NI continue to operate business as usual, taking orders and customer queries over the phone, with the reassurance that their phone system and services are reliable.

“As a business, we are very much customer focused and when looking for suppliers we appreciate those that share these values with us. Atlas have always been an easy company to work alongside, with a single point of contact for our phone system, calls & lines helping to keep everything simple and easy to manage.” Amanda Stanfield

As a small business Atlas understand that for many SMEs like Stanfield NI, new communication technologies are yet to replace traditional methods in terms of productivity and speed of response to customers. We will continue to support these customers to ensure their business telecoms are future proofed and can benefit from any changes & improvements to communication technology.

Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour...

Atlas Communications is continuing its growth in 2016 with a substantial new contract to provide public Wi-Fi at three of Northern Ireland’s key fishing ports. Projects funded by the European Fisheries Fund with Northern Ireland Fishery Harbour Authority, have seen the ports of Kilkeel, Portavogie and Ardglass provide free wireless access for tourists, visitors and locals alike.

David Smyth, NIFHA Project Manager explained: “the installation of a public access Wi-Fi service at the three fishing harbours by Atlas Communications  will be of use to the fishermen, for other business users and for promoting the harbour and local communities. It will also be available to tourists and visitors ensuring connectivity during their visit.

The solution was developed carefully by Atlas to meet our specific requirements enabling it to be accessed in multiple languages including Romanian, Polish, Lithuanian and Tagalog.”

Being Communications is an ambitious digital communications company, which provides businesses with the support and know-how they need to succeed online. Specialising in website development, internet marketing and social media activities; they provide their customers with the tools they need to succeed and get maximum value from their online presence.

The Challenge:

Being Communications is known for their excellence in the field of online communications, and as such required a resilient and reliable hosting service, as the majority of their business is conducted online. As their company expanded, Being Communications looked to Atlas to provide them with a hosting service to support the qualified outbound email and web services they provide to their customers. Being had previously operated these activities in-house, but as part of their expansion, they wanted a dedicated service partner, who would also provide them with access to their equipment.

The Solution:

Atlas was able to listen to the unique needs of Being Communications and offered a tailored solution. Atlas now provides Being with a hosting service through our data centre, which is in our own secure facility, operating dual vendor Internet bandwidth with fully redundant UPS with generator backup. This facility is designed to operate to 99.999% uptime and Being can access additional bandwidth automatically as they have peaks in traffic. This means that Being do not have to worry about bandwidth congestion or downtime affecting the service they provide to their customers.

The Benefits

Through the service provided via Atlas’ data centre, Being Communications benefit from:

Scalable bandwidth that fully supports their business needs. Reduced downtime and less contention on lines. 24/7 support for mission critical services and equipment. Managed service means ZERO operational costs of maintaining this service in-house.

“Atlas were flexible enough to work with us on our specific requirements and provided us with a local solution, a service which other providers were unable to offer.” Conor Morrissey, Technical Director, Being Digital

“Being has a reputation for online excellence. The ability of Atlas to deliver flexible, yet reliable solutions, to support this standard, is a major reason customers choose us.” Richard Simpson, Marketing Manager, Atlas Communications.

Pale Blue Dot

Belfast based creative media company Pale Blue Dot have trusted in Atlas to rapidly install a high speed near-synchronous broadband solution.

The business was being hampered by a very poor ADSL which was limiting upload speeds to well under 1Mg in turn reducing the agility and profitability of the business.

As Jamie Steele, Managing Director, explained “The Atlas solution enabled us to take advantage of the huge increase in upload speed to move high resolution images and movies to cloud storage. “

Atlas Programme Manager, Manus Savage, commented, “While Pale Blue Dot loved their bohemian city centre location, the lack of suitable connectivity was seriously impacting their business. “

SOS Group

Successful, local Northern Ireland based Company SOS Group have recently availed of Belfast City Council's Super Connected Voucher Scheme for high-speed broadband in their premises, delivered by Atlas Communications. The grant scheme allows SMEs to apply for up to £3,000 towards the costs of installing high speed broadband solutions.

Commenting on the service launch, Atlas Programme Manager, Manus Savage said, ‘What we aim to do is deliver broadband at a price that fits most businesses and do it in a way that is high impact, rapidly deployable and with as little civil works disruption as possible. The service represents a new wireless infrastructure for the city and is different from those seen previously.’

“For those businesses with previously limited broadband capacity this service opens up much greater access to Cloud based and remote access services providing new options for how and organisation chooses to operate”

Michael Jackson – General Manager of SOS Group explained “The Atlas solution of providing high speed broadband has revolutionised how our business can work with our customers and managing their data. We deploy web based services at our offices but with poor download and upload we couldn’t make the best of what we wanted to do. The new service transforms access speeds and usability. In short the business can operate faster.”
