Corrymeela Community

Corrymeela is Northern Ireland’s oldest peace and reconciliation organisation, with 40 full time staff and dozens of volunteers working alongside the eleven thousand people who spend time in their residential centre every year.

As part of a tender win, Atlas helped Corrymeela to upgrade their legacy Siemens phone system, which had reached end of life and was no longer fit for purpose.

The Panasonic system proposed by Atlas included almost 50 extensions and the hybrid nature of the Panasonic NS700 supported the IP handsets required to connect Corrymeela’s network of outbuildings at their site in Ballycastle.  The PC pass through capability of the handsets has enabled Corrymeela to modernise and simplify its networking infrastructure without a major cabling effort.

In addition, Atlas’ proposal also included ‘hot-desking’ functionality, which Corrymeela require to easily facilitate both temporary and volunteer staff without having to continuously spend time and resources scaling the system to suit changing business needs.

The Panasonic NS700 also offers Corrymeela a wide range of Unified Communication features in addition to standard business class PBX functions, making it ideal for them as an SME. With the systems lifecycle costs comparing well against a cloud based rental solution over 3 to 5 years, ensuring that Corrymeela’s funding is put to the best possible use.

Richard Naylor at Corrymeela commented, “As an organisation with close ties to the local community we appreciate Atlas’ personal approach to doing business, with a dedicated Account Manager and all engineering and support teams based in Northern Ireland,"

"This provided us with reassurance during the project that they would better understand our requirements and be able to respond quickly and effectively if there were any issues. The engineers responsible for installation and setup were particularly friendly and helpful during the implementation of the project” he continued.

Forty8 North Business Park

Atlas Communications have recently installed Fibre Internet connections at Forty8 North Business Park as part of the Government’s Gigabit Voucher Scheme.

Based within one of Belfast’s busiest industrial areas, Forty8 North Business Park is host to a range of companies. From creative industries with high bandwidth requirements for uploading & sharing images, to leading mechanical and electrical engineering firms who need reliable connections to keep in contact with customers and engineers working remotely.

These tenants are now able to meet their demand for greater digital connectivity by upgrading to a gigabit capable internet connection thanks to Atlas, who are a local provider on the Gigabit Voucher Scheme.

The Fibre to the Premise service supplied by Atlas under the scheme provides upload and download speeds several times faster than existing connections, with eligible businesses receiving government support to help cover their installation costs.

Sean Mahon, CEO of Atlas commented, “As a supplier on the Gigabit Voucher Scheme we have helped companies based at the park treble their Internet speeds without the worry of covering the cost of installation. The new connections also help to future proof these businesses, positioning them to take advantage of new technologies including VoIP telephony and cloud based data storage,”

“We are delighted to have been able to offer this service at the park and we hope to continue working alongside the park’s property management to roll out the infrastructure to other tenants, promoting business growth in the local area,” he continued.

Sperrin Intrgrated College

Atlas Communications recently worked alongside Sperrin Integrated College, to install a new Panasonic NS700 phone system, with over 40 handsets. The contract, part of an integrated system, lines & calls service, was won through a competitive tender process in response to the school looking to replace their existing Toshiba system.

The school had two main drivers in its search including having call recording in place to help with safeguarding of staff. They were also looking for a system that would allow more efficient call handling for parents and staff.

Atlas’ proposal included replacing their existing ISDN lines with SIP lines and using SIP side call recording as a cost effective way to monitor calls. This migration to SIP also reduced the cost of the school’s line rental.

The hybrid feature of the Panasonic system meant it was compatible with these new lines, and also allowed the school to benefit from a new, bespoke auto attendant (press 1, press 2) service for managing inbound calls.

We worked closely with the school throughout, facilitating dates outside of term time and offering a lease purchase option through Grenke which helped spread out investment without affecting their capital spend.

“The new system supplied by Atlas has not only met our call recording and call management requirements, but the proposal to upgrade our phone lines to SIP, has provided reassurance that the system is future proofed, and is flexible to meet our needs and any future changes within telecoms.” Martin McAfee, Sperrin Integrated College

The Royal Ulster Agricultural Society

RUAS is a charitable organisation, formed with the purpose of promoting agriculture in Northern Ireland through hosting shows and providing agricultural guidance & instruction. The most notable event in their yearly calendar is the Balmoral Show, Ireland’s largest Agri-food festival, which attracts over 100,000 visitors each year at its new home in Balmoral Park. Located within Balmoral Park is also the Eikon Exhibition Centre, a 10,000sqm exhibition space that is host to a diverse range of events each year.

Atlas provide event communications management on behalf of RUAS as well as providing their own internal telephony & network services. With the Balmoral Show alone having close to 750 trade stands across 4 days, these large scale events have huge bandwidth requirements and often individual exhibitors require bespoke networking to run product demos, stream videos & for taking secure card payments.

The team at Atlas are highly experienced in delivering Internet services at events like these, from one off single events at the Eikon Centre to the single biggest agricultural event in Ireland. With a large locally based engineering team able to directly set up & manage the services during the shows, ensuring everything is running as should be.

“The nature of events like the Balmoral Show mean that a lot of exhibition space and show events are held outside. This can make it problematic to bring connectivity to stands and to all-important judging arenas. However, Atlas have been able to provide solutions to this and provide high quality Internet services for both us and exhibitors at our events.” Jenny McNeill, Events & Business Development Executive at RUAS

Catalyst Inc

Atlas are proud to count Catalyst as one of our key clients, working with them for over 10 years, providing managed network & telecoms services for Catalyst and their tenant companies.

Catalyst Inc is one of Northern Ireland’s success stories, with over 3,000 engineers, researchers, entrepreneurs and executives working in their campuses in Belfast, Derry/Londonderry and Ballymena, across eight large office buildings. Catalyst nurtures indigenous technology firms and encourages inward investment from some of the largest tech companies in the world.

At the core of their campuses are ‘business ready’ turnkey hubs, with critical data and voice infrastructure supported by Atlas, all built into a package. This provides a high quality built environment & infrastructure that enables tenant companies to focus on knowledge-based entrepreneurialism.

As Catalyst has grown Atlas have worked with them to build a single virtual campus infrastructure combining data and voice services. This allows tenant companies to easily move between campuses & access services regardless of location. Catalyst tenants range from one-entrepreneur companies through to global multi-nationals and Atlas have been able to provide services to meet these vastly differing needs.

Mervyn Watley, Director of Corporate Real Estate and Facilities at Catalyst, explained “The managed infrastructure provided by Atlas helps us to support our community of innovators and allows them to focus on growing their business without the worry of sourcing & managing these critical voice & data services. Over the years we have built up a great relationship with the team at Atlas and they have always been able to meet all our requirements as we continue to grow and develop as a company.”

Atlas look forward to continuing to work alongside Catalyst in distinguishing Northern Ireland as a world-class centre of knowledge and technological development.

Stanfield NI

Atlas have been providing Stanfield NI with business telephony services and support for a number of years. As a long established, local builders merchant, relationships with their customers & suppliers are very much focused on direct, personal contact and as such the telephone is an essential part of their day-to-day business.

When Stanfield’s legacy phone system recently reached end of life, Atlas provided a complete solution that included lines & minutes. At its core was a new SIP ready Panasonic telephony platform. This new phone system can be easily upgraded to adapt to future telephony changes, which helps Stanfield NI continue to operate business as usual, taking orders and customer queries over the phone, with the reassurance that their phone system and services are reliable.

“As a business, we are very much customer focused and when looking for suppliers we appreciate those that share these values with us. Atlas have always been an easy company to work alongside, with a single point of contact for our phone system, calls & lines helping to keep everything simple and easy to manage.” Amanda Stanfield

As a small business Atlas understand that for many SMEs like Stanfield NI, new communication technologies are yet to replace traditional methods in terms of productivity and speed of response to customers. We will continue to support these customers to ensure their business telecoms are future proofed and can benefit from any changes & improvements to communication technology.

As Jamie Steele, Managing Director, explained “The Atlas solution enabled us to take advantage of the huge increase in upload speed to move high resolution images and movies to cloud storage. “

Atlas Programme Manager, Manus Savage, commented, “While Pale Blue Dot loved their bohemian city centre location, the lack of suitable connectivity was seriously impacting their business. “
