If you think your Internet is running slow, we recommend you use a speed checker to see if there is in fact a dip in your speeds
You can use any online speed checker (we recommend http://www.speedtest.net).
In order to check your pure speed, please connect your computer directly into the router with a Ethernet/network cable.
Be sure to use the speed tester at different points throughout the day to make sure the problem is not just a traffic issue.
If your speed is not meeting those agreed in your contract, please call 02890786868.
Is your Broadband running slow?
Check these few things yourself before giving us a call:
1) Do a speed check
Use any speed testers (we recommend http://www.speedtest.net/) to check the speeds of your Internet. Do this a few times throughout the day to make sure it’s not just a traffic issue.
2) Who is connected?
If you are working on Wi-Fi you should check how many devices are connected to it. If there are lots of connections, it is likely that this will affect the speed. Make sure people aren’t logging on with personal devices.
3) Wireless or Wired?
Wireless connections will be inevitably slower compared to wired connections. If it is possible, plug into the router via an Ethernet cable to see if the speed is as it is expected to be.
4) Old Router?
If you have recently upgraded the speeds of your Internet package you may find an old router can be hindering the connection as it may not be built for faster speeds. Contact your Internet Service Provider and ask for a new router.
5) Are they really slow?
Some people think their Internet speeds are slow when in fact they are exactly what they are contracted to have. Check your contracted speeds and then the speed you are getting. You may find that you are overestimating what the actual speed of your Internet is.
If you still can’t figure out what is happening and your speeds are less than that contracted, there may be a problem with your broadband.

We all know how frustrating it can be if your broadband stops working. Stay calm and try these few steps yourself:
1) Are there any flashing lights?
If there are any lights flashing on your router, they may give a clue to what is wrong. Check any owner manuals so see if they problem is explained and easily fixed.
2) Shut it all down
Close all programmes and shut down your PC or laptop. Turn your router off too. Leave all of these things off for at least 30 seconds (don’t rush it and try after 5).
3) Let everything start up properly
Turn your computer on and let all the programmes load correctly.
Make sure you give your router about 3 minutes for it to have started up and connected fully.
4) Check the physical connections
Get in behind your computer and check if all of your connections are in firmly.
If you are working with a wireless router, try plugging your computer into the wireless router via an Ethernet cable. It may be your wireless signal causing some problems.
5) Turn everything off
Turn everything off at the switch or unplug it if you want to. Leave it like this for 30 minutes. We know this might be a pain and take you out of action but it can help especially if your PC or router is constantly on.
6) Check your service status
Does your ISP have a service status line you could call? Some ISPs have tools that can help you find out if there is a problem or outage in your area.
If you have other ways to connect to the internet, check social media for any news.
7) Phone your Internet Service Provider
If you have tried all of these things and nothing is working, call your ISP as there may be a problem with your router or connection.
